Carteret General Hospital is Honored to be selected as Employer of the Year

The Chamber of Commerce announced the following regarding the award:

Congratulations to the honorees who received awards at the “first ever” JobLink Appreciation Luncheon & Awards Presentation last Thursday, which was co-hosted by the Carteret County Chamber and the JobLink Career Center.

Dan Williams, Manager of the Carteret County office of the Employment Security Commission of North Carolina (ESC), recognized the two 2005 “Employers of the Year” - Carteret General Hospital and Best Western Silver Creek Inn. Accepting were Beth Beswick, Vice President for Human Resources & Public Relations at the hospital and Kay Smith, Best Western’s General Manager. Here are excerpts from Williams’ presentation.

“As the community’s medical center, Carteret General Hospital is keeping pace with the county’s growth and will soon be expanding from 117 inpatient beds to 135. The medical staff now offers a comprehensive range of specialties from A to V - anesthesiology to vascular surgery.

“It’s comforting to know that Carteret General Hospital is on the leading edge of technology, but it’s the bedside manner, if you will, that truly sets Carteret General Hospital apart from the rest. The patient is the centerpiece of all they do, ensuring an environment of compassion, respect and dignity. High quality care and cost-effective care is their business and they do it very, very well day in and day out.

“The staff at the Best Western Silver Creek Inn has excelled in serving their guests with comfortable and clean rooms, a nutritious breakfast and genuine southern hospitality. As an arriving guest, you are greeted by a dedicated, professional staff who have a bundle of information to share about the places to see and visit throughout the area - ‘all the fun stuff.’

“The hotel not only meets all the requirements that we established for Employer of the Year - excellence in environmental stewardship, outstanding employee-employer relations and good neighbor qualities, it sponsors a ton of activities in the community. The folks at Best Western Silver Creek Inn are ambassadors for Crystal Coast tourism, working constantly to promote the region. They do so with great passion and pride.”

In closing, Barwick cited a quote from Julia that epitomizes the community character of the Crystal Coast: “Remember always, the most important common thread to a memorable beach vacation is simply being with your loved ones and the way your soul is lovingly restored again and again, renewed with each visit to the shore through the hand of the Creator of the sun, the sea, the sand and the sky.”
