Welcome to the Carteret General Hospital (CGH) Foundation

Robert Kornegay. Executive Director.

It is my privilege to introduce you to the CGH Foundation (PDF 46 Kb) mission to encourage community support of Hospital programs and services to meet the healthcare needs of our county residents and visitors.

For over four decades the men and women of Carteret General Hospital have provided our neighbors, our families, and our visitors with optimum health care and efficiency in value. As the population of the county has grown to over 63,000 full-time residents, so too have the clinical skills and the innovative technologies of the CGH staff and services.

Carteret General Hospital is a local, not-for-profit hospital mandated by the county to serve all – regardless of their ability to pay – and which receives no financial support from county taxpayer funds. Despite recent federal funding cuts that have shaken the nation’s healthcare system, the financial health of CGH remains strong due to a legacy of vigilant fiscal management.

Loving care to the people of Carteret County for over 30 years.

To preserve the tradition of healthcare excellence, Carteret General Hospital relies on the generous financial contributions of our neighbors and friends who value the unique role of a local healthcare facility in the overall well-being of the community. Specialty programs like the Raab Oncology Center, the CGH Imaging Center, and Hospice & Home Health services are sustained today by the faithful contributions of individuals, organizations, and businesses from across Carteret County.

CGH Cancer Center New Cancer Center Project! The CGH Foundation has recently launched a three-year, $3 million campaign to help construct a new Cancer Center. The 23,000 sq. foot facility will be conveniently located behind the Hospital at the corner of Bridges Street and Penny Lane. The Hospital's Raab Oncology Clinic and the Coleman Radiation Clinic along with various support services will be housed in the new facility. The chemotherapy wing of the building will include both private and semi-private treatment areas overlooking a beautifully landscaped garden featuring fountains and sculptures. The new Cancer Center will help ease the stresses and expenses in time and lost wages consumed by frequent trips to distant medical centers for treatments available right here in the heart of the North Carolina Coast. SPECIAL EVENTS. Each year the staff, auxiliary, and friends of Carteret General host a number of special fund-raising events to benefit specific programs or services. The Festival of Trees is organized by the Hospice of Carteret County in December as a uniquely moving way to honor the lives of special friends and dear loved ones. Then in early spring the community gathers for the elegant fun and fellowship of the Hospital Gala and Silent Auction to benefit the Annual Fund. Other events include golf tournaments, fishing competitions, receptions, and benefits.
