Welcome to the Carteret General Hospital (CGH) Foundation.
It is my privilege to introduce you to the CGH Foundation mission to encourage community support of Hospital programs and services to meet the healthcare needs of our county residents and visitors.
For over four decades the men and women of Carteret General Hospital have provided our neighbors, our families, and our visitors with optimum health care and efficiency in value. As the population of the county has grown to over 63,000 full-time residents, so too have the clinical skills and the innovative technologies of the CGH staff and services.
Carteret General Hospital is a regional, not-for-profit hospital mandated by the county to serve all – regardless of their ability to pay – and which receives no financial support from county taxpayer funds. Despite recent federal funding cuts that have shaken the nation’s healthcare system, the financial health of CGH remains strong due to a legacy of vigilant fiscal management.

To preserve the tradition of healthcare excellence, Carteret General Hospital relies on the generous financial contributions of our neighbors and friends who value the unique role of a local healthcare facility in the overall well-being of the community. Specialty programs like the Raab Oncology Center, the CGH Imaging Center, and Hospice & Home Health services are sustained today by the faithful contributions of individuals, organizations, and businesses from across Carteret County.

FUNDING PRIORITY: The CT Scanner Project. The Foundation is now raising the remaining $120,000 needed to upgrade to a 64-slice CT scanner. This high tech tool will insure that our patients receive the optimum diagnostic care here that many now drive for hours to receive elsewhere. We urgently need your help to complete this project by the end of 2008. Your tax-deductible gifts to the CT Scanner Project will dramatically change the futures of hundreds of our neighbors, our families, and our friends.
SPECIAL EVENTS. Each year the staff, auxiliary, and friends of Carteret General host a number of special fund-raising events to benefit specific programs or services. The Festival of Trees is organized by the Hospice of Carteret County in December as a uniquely moving way to honor the lives of special friends and dear loved ones. Then in early spring the community gathers for the elegant fun and fellowship of the Hospital Gala and Silent Auction to benefit the Annual Fund. Other events include golf tournaments, fishing competitions, receptions, and benefits.

To acknowledge our appreciation of our financial supporters, the Foundation has developed a number of giving opportunities:
- Individuals who join the Founder’s Circle receive a signed & framed print by renowned artist Alan Cheek;
- Community members who donate $100/year or more are recognized as CGH Partners.
- Business donors are recognized through the Business Health Alliance;
- Planned giving donors are eligible to join the Heritage Society;
- Employees who give $100/year or more are recognized as Cape Lookout Leaders;
While giving may seem a straightforward discussion, there are many ways you can choose to make a gift. Some careful planning will ensure that your objectives are met. Read a brief overview of the most common ways to make a gift to CGH and the benefits of each.
